dnasnow/mouseup + Bodycocktail + Zanstones live tour of Spain winter 2007

Carol and I went to Spain as I met up for a 7th year reunion with Rinus Van Albeek to do a dnasnow/mouseup tour plus some solo shows alternately as Bodycocktail and Zanstones. Here are links for some live videos and pictures of friends.

dnasnow/mouseup in Madrid November 30th, 2007 Spain

Powerfully loud and lively show to a sold out group in Madrid. This was our first performance on our tour and the last time we'd played together had been six years ago.

dnasnow/mouseup at the museum of artistic reproductions, Bilbao, December 1st, Spain

A funny, sparsely attended and often powerfully noisy show at a seriously clean museum of artistic Greek and Roman reproductions. Megaphone was useful in this cavernous space. The sound spilled out into the streets and both the workers across the way and people wandering by were amused and perplexed. Rinus taped a padded mailing envelope on the winged victory of samothrace behind the stage.

Bodycocktail in Gexto Arte (Bilbao), December 1st, Spain

This was the funniest and most enjoyable show. Miguel A. Garcia found us a slot at a young artist show booth at a large tent show called Gexto Arte. The Bodycocktail-4 dancers all had surprise masks with my faces on them.

Zanstones Donestaiko Zuloak, San Sebastion, December 2nd, Spain

I recorded holes in various places in Donesti/San Sebastion from the boardwalk by the sea to the park across the street from the venue where I attracted a set of "little fans", boys playing in that area.
I carved a hole in a piece of black foamcore which I used to bow, look through, stick my ear or nose through, etc.

dnasnow/mouseup at Mogambo in Donesti/San Sebastion, December 2nd, Spain

It was not at all what we had intended as we had set up an entire table with our equipment on in & proceeded to ingore that equipment and instead I was in the audience walking circles and vocalizing with a megaphone and walkie-talkie and Rinus had a shoebox tapedeck with a microphone and was being a wizard of sound and noise. The show was in 2 parts, the second in the dark.

dnasnow/mouseup at octobre in Valencia, December 5th, Spain

This was our most intersting, complex and lengthy show - clocking in around 80 minutes. Thanks to Ruben for the great venue and fine accomodations.

Bodycocktail live in Madrid, December 7th, Spain

I had fun and sang my songs which played until 15 or 20 minutes then inexplicably stopped. So I switched to the Bilbao set and had the same situation. The backing cd sounded like someone was chewing granola cereal on top of it & my microphone cord was hillariously short & this along with my fancy jacket made someone comment that I looked like a flamenco singer.

DC Sonic Circuits Festival 2007

On my mom's birthday in September 2007 I played live at the DC Sonic Circuits Festival after being invited by Jeff Surak. My show as Masters of the Ungentlemanly Art featured submissions from artists playing the festival after my performance:
Thomas-Ankersmit [de], Arturas Bumsteinas [lt], The Caution Curves [dc], Iris Garrelfs [uk], Mike Jackson [nc], Sara Lundén [se], Murmer [uk], Northern Machine [va], Promute [nc], Safe [dc]
The live show featured also recordings of the duo from Brooklyn Gunung Sari who played before me that night as well as vocals and handouts by yours truly.

Election time 2004 show with Tim Ruth

I was on warming up on my car Beverly before the show (photos by matt davis)

warming up (to drown out Kerry rally playing on the radio over the PA system) as Tim sets up
My friend and fellow band member Chris watches me play.
Chris, Tim & I had practiced a few times before this show on Washington Street and had a few nice things we were capable of doing. The show started with Tim on electronics, Chris on Guitar and me on accordian. After a few minutes of distorted howls Tim leaves the show. Chris plays on with me for a minute or two. Then he stops and watches me play for the rest of the show as I refuse to go down with the ship. Over a year later Nadeem & I were laughing about this show, he enjoyed it but was amazed as I was as Chris just sat there watching me play.
